Services for Lillian ‘Lil’ Hipp, 88, of the Phalba Community, were held Monday, March 10, 2025, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Brent Williams officiating. Interment was in Haven of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Hipp passed away on March 5, 2025, in Athens. She was born February 28, 1937, in Pavo, Georgia to Noah Etheridge and Mabel Ethel Fretwell Mims. Lil grew up in Florida where she met and married Bill Hipp, a U.S. Marine stationed in Miami. Upon leaving the military, they settled in Dallas. The family moved to the Phalba area in 1971. Lil was an extremely devoted wife and mother who loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed travelling and collecting many special ‘treasures.’ Lil was an exceptionally strong woman with a keen intelligence and resourcefulness. She attended Elm Grove Church.

Mrs. Hipp is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Bill Hipp Sr.; son, Billy Hipp Jr.; parents, Noah and Mabel Mims; six brothers, and one sister.

Lil is survived by her three daughters and sons-inlaw: Rhonda and Tom Manning, Cindy and Ronnie Burton, and Ginger and Scott Hines; seven grandchildren and their spouses: Lauren and Ryan Hall; Whitney Henry; Nancy and Dustin Clark; Jonathan and Haley Burton; Cody and Leigh Hines; Hilary and Colby Ivie; and Valerie and Katlin Horwood; 16 great-grandchildren, soon to be 17; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers were Cody Hines, Jonathan Burton, Dustin Clark, Ryan Hall, Colby Ivie, Katlin Horwood and Gerald Cottrell, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were her great-grandsons Barrett Hall, Andrew Hall, Grady Clark, Brady Henry, Noah Burton, Callen Clark, Caleb Henry and Jay Cooper Hines.

The family would like to thank Arabella Memory Care of Athens for their kindness and care over the past few months. Visitation was held Sunday, March 9, at the funeral home. If desired, donations may be made to your favorite charity or church.
