Judy was born on November 16, 1936, in Wills Point to parents William Ralph McLeod and Julia Rose Manning McLeod.

She was a lifelong member of the Wills Point community and graduated from Wills Point High School in 1955. On December 16, 1955, Judy married the love of her life, Weldon Powers at her mother’s home.

From 1967 to 1980, Judy kept the books for McLeod Texaco. She later worked for the South Tawakoni Water Supply Company, where she was employed for 15 years before retiring in 1995.

Judy and Weldon were devoted members of Russell Memorial Methodist Church, where she served faithfully in many roles.

She sang in the choir, worked on the altar guild committee, helped count weekly offerings with her dear friend, Becky Hardy, and lovingly taught Sunday school to first graders for 10 years.

Judy will be remembered for her warm heart, strong faith, and love of family. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed reading mystery novels, and had a passion for shopping for clothing and antiques.

Above all, she cherished time spent with her loved ones, who fondly recall her lighthearted ‘Whatever’ as a defining part of her character.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Rose McLeod; her husband, Weldon Powers; her daughter, Janece Carter; and brother-in-law, Jerry Moon.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Lenna Powers Deen and husband, George, of Dallas; son-in-law, Louis Carter and wife, Joni, of Richardson; sister, Sandra Moon of Garland; grandchildren, Evan Carter, Laura Carroll and husband, James, Alyssa Deen, and Ty Deen; and great-grandchildren, Landon Carroll, Reese Carroll, and Adrian Aguilar.
