Dunn makes presentation to VISD board

A number of education-related topics under consideration by the Texas Legislature were outlined during the regular monthly meeting of the Van School Board April 17. Through a power-point presentation, Van ISD Superintendent Don Dunn gave the trustees a breakdown of some legislation that is under consideration by the Texas House and the Texas Senate regarding education.

Van High School Principal Jeff Hutchins has been promoted to the position of Director of Operations for Van ISD fol- Hutchins has spent 28 total years in education with 18 of those being in Van ISD. He has served as VHS Principal for the past 12 years and is a 1989 graduate of VHS.

County sees 12.42 percent increase in sales tax revenues

The Texas State Comptroller’s Office delivered mostly positive results to Van Zandt County cities last week, announcing that five out of seven local entities had posted sales tax revenue gains when comparing against collection totals against the same month from the previous year.

Van council tables action on revised EDC by-laws

After several minutes of discussion, the Van City Council took no action regarding revised Economic Development Corporation (EDC) by-laws during its regular monthly meeting April 13. Van Mayor Pro-Tem Ernie Burns joined the meeting through ZOOM as he was out of town due to a family illness.
