Two men with ties to the Wills Point community were arrested this week following an early afternoon chase involving Kaufman County law enforcement officials. A two vehicle-accident approximately two miles east of Canton along State Highway 64 resulted in the death of a Lancaster woman and three others being sent to area hospitals for treatment. According to a preliminary accident report released by the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident occurred shortly after noon at approximately 12:20 p.m.on Sunday, April 30 and involved a 1992 Oldsmobile 88 and a 2020 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

More than 300 people made their way to the Van Zandt County Appraisal District Office this week, bringing their concerns about recently released 2023 tax appraisals before the board April 25. With the primary meeting room well at capacity, an overflow crowd gathered in adjoining offices and hallways.
