During a special called meeting May 13, the Van Zandt County Commissioners Court announced that they have moved the date of their next regular meeting. The meeting date has been moved from Wednesday, May 22 to Tuesday, May 21 beginning at 9 a.m.

Following much discussion, the Van City Council approved in a 4-0 vote to adjust the staffing levels of the Van Police Department to enhance recruitment and retention of officers. The action was taken by the council during its regular monthly meeting May 9.

Arthritis isn’t a single disease, but a term that refers to more than 100 conditions characterized by joint pain or joint disease, says the Arthritis Foundation. Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in the United States, and affects women at a proportionally higher rate than men.

Governor Greg Abbott recently expanded the state’s disaster declaration to include 59 counties in at-risk areas for severe weather and flooding, with the updated disaster declaration covering 88 counties in total.
