The field of local playoff participants took a hit last week as both Canton and Edgewood suffered bi-district round losses. The Van Vandals notched a 28-0 win over Liberty-Eylau, running their overall record to 11-0 as they head into the Area round.

The Van Lady Vandals were the gold standard among county volleyball programs throughout the 2021 season, powering their way to a District 14-4A title before notching impressive playoff wins over Kaufman, Paris and state-ranked Farmersville.

County approves water works

An agreement between Van Zandt County and the Fruitvale Water Supply Corporation (FWSC) regarding improvements for the corporation’s water supply was approved Nov. 10 by the VZC Commissioners Court during its regular meeting.

CELEBRATING HERITAGE

The Edgewood Heritage Festival was held Nov. 13, in downtown Edgewood. The festival was a success with a large number of attendees strolling through the Edgewood Heritage Museum displays, looking at classic cars, shopping merchants and testing out a number of festival foods. Event participants dressed in period costume with live demonstrations of a blacksmith, musical entertainment and more.
