Eagles best Tigers in rivalry game

The Canton Eagles played host to a familiar foe on Tuesday night, clashing with the rival Wills Point Tigers in a District 14-4A showdown. Canton would go on to get the better of the matchup, breaking open a tie game in the third inning on their way to a 7-1 win.

Grand Saline Indians stay hot in district play

Van Vandals breeze past Athens, 9-1

The Van Vandals stayed busy last week, playing three games total over a five-day span including a pair of district contests. Van went 2-1 overall during the three games, downing both Mabank and Athens.

Lady Indians get past Chisum, 4-3

Body
The Grand Saline Lady Indians made the trek to Paris on April 12, dueling with Chisum in a key District 12-3A matchup. Grand Saline would pull out the victory in the contest, keeping the Lady Mustangs at bay to earn a 4-3 win.

Eaglettes stretch shutout streak to three

The Canton Eaglettes entered last week looking for a bounce back game, having seen their four-game district winning streak snapped with a 4-1 loss to Mabank April 1. Canton easily accomplished the feat, completing the season sweep of Van April 6 before doing the same against Brownsboro April 8 and Wills Point April 11.

Left, the Edgewood tennis program will be well represented at the Class 3A State Tennis Tournament after the girls doubles team of Meredith Baker and Gracie Cates placed first at the Regional Tennis Tournament, and the doubles team of Brooklyn McPherson and Tristin Smith placed second at the same event. Middle, the Wills Point mixed doubles team of Grayce Malone and Jacob Daniell punched their ticket to the Class 4A State Tennis Tournament by winning Regionals. Right, Sawyer Sewell and Kristyn Dunn of Wills Point won first overall in girls doubles at the Regional Tennis Tournament in Longview to secure a spot in this year’s Class 4A State Tennis Tournament in San Antonio April 26-27. The Van Lady Vandals hit a pair of speed bumps on their way to a potential spot in this year’s Class 4A UIL Softball Playoffs last week, dropping consecutive games to Mabank and Athens to fall to 2-6 overall in district with two games left to play.
