The Edgewood Lady Dogs hit the field twice last week, clashing with chief rival Grand Saline in a rare Thursday night game before returning home to take on perennial power Emory Rains in the district finale.

The Van Lady Vandals put on an offensive exhibition when the two teams met up on April 19, combining for 34 hits and 24 runs. Once the dust finally settled Van would come away victorious, pulling out the 17-7 victory to finish the season with a 3-7 mark in district play.

The Van Vandals stayed within the confines of Van Zandt County on Tuesday night, making the short trek to Wills Point to tangle with the rival Tigers. Shaky fielding would be a major storyline in the contest as Van capitalized on nine Tiger miscues in the field to take home a 15-7 win.

April 21-24: The Terrell Jubilee is a four-day funfilled celebration for the whole family that celebrates Terrell’s heritage held annually. Colfax Cemetery Association to hold meeting The Colfax Cemetery Association will hold their annual meeting on April 30. After the annual dedication and meeting, hotdogs and chips will be served, stated association members.

Canton’s new VFW post is moving closer and closer to chartering. On Thursday, April 14, Provisional Post Leader Dan Curtis spoke to 11 more local veterans about what the new VFW post can offer the veterans and this community. He mentioned that over 100 laws have been specifically written, distributed to members of congress, and passed into law supplying the current military the best support service of any military in the history of Mankind.

Spurred by the backing of Keep Wills Point Beautiful, artists Gary Holman and Tammie McKenzie spent the past week painting a mural on the south facing side of the building occupied by Robertson Electric Service. The mural, which includes multiple scenes, including the Texas flag, a Tiger, flowers and wildlife, recognition of the 1965 State Championship winning Wills Point football team and a thank you message to first responders and military personnel.
