On field rivalries took a backseat last week as students and staffers from districts across Van Zandt County wore green and white clothing to show their support for the Canton community after the tragic passing of 9-year-old Wyatt Brey in an automobile accident. Edgewood cheerleaders were among those to participate in the tribute, wearing green to their pep rally Sept. 30.

Slight enrollment increase reported at Van ISD

Proclamation approved by VZC Commissioners Court

In their final regular meeting for the 2022 fiscal year, the Van Zandt County Commissioners Court unanimously approved a proclamation calling for Saturday, Oct. 8 to be recognized as ‘War of 1812 Veteran and Republic of Texas Citizen James Rice Day.’

Agencies respond to possible gas leak

A portion of Highway 19 was closed to traffic late Oct. 3 after a possible gas leak was detected at the Potts Gas parking lot located at 12728 Highway 19.
