The start of the 2023 high school football season Friday, Aug. 25, in Van Zandt County means the return of the Van Zandt News Football Contest, now in its 42nd season.

The 2023 high school football season in Van Zandt County means the return of ‘The Huddle Show’ on Canton radio station KWJB (95.1 FM, ‘The Bee’) beginning Tuesday, Aug. 22.

Mineola radio station KMOO (99.9 FM) has announced that the 2023 football season premiere of ‘The Locker Room Show’ will be Monday, Aug. 21, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Over 100 community members attended the First Annual Back-to-School Prayer Rally held Aug. 10 at the Grand Saline ISD campuses. The rally was coordinated by community members and led in prayer by Rev. David Crain, Rev. Jeremy Tally, Rev. Randy Edwards, Rev. Kelly Krone and Rev. Wes Weruch. Community members walked to each campus praying for its students, teachers, administrators, and parents.

Terrell Police are investigating the shooting death of a Terrell High School student Wednesday morning. According to a press release from the Terrell Police Department, offi cers responded to a 9-1-1 call at 8:12 a.m.

The annual Colfax Homecoming will take place Sunday, Aug. 27, at Colfax United Methodist Church beginning at 10:30 AM.
