Burn ban lifted in Van Zandt County

After recommending a 60day burn ban which was approved by the Van Zandt County Commissioners Court Oct. 23, VZC Fire Marshal Sean Davis informed the commissioners’ court during its regular meeting Nov. 6 that the burn ban has been lifted.

VZC Republicans dominate General Election results

Following the lead of results nationwide Nov. 5 during the General Election, Republicans in Van Zandt County made a strong showing as final voting results were released by the VZC Clerk’s office.

Velazquez competes at State Meet

Kevin Velazquez of Canton concluded his cross-country season at the State Meet in Round Rock on Friday, Nov. 1. He finished 26th in a field of 152 runners with a time of 16:34. “I’m super proud of all the hard work, miles, and hours that Kevin has poured into running,” said Canton Head Cross Country Coach Marta Morgan. “He is a team leader and will be greatly missed next year. Thank you to everyone who has supported him and the program this season.”
