GS Creek project discussion draws large crowd

Body
susan@vanzandtnews.com On the evening of July 15, the Canton City Council convened for a crucial meeting that attracted a large assembly of concerned Grand Saline Creek Reservoir residents. With Mayor Lou Ann Berry absent, as she was in Austin for a meeting advocating against commercial water well drilling in Anderson and Henderson Counties, the responsibilities of presiding over the meeting fell to Mayor Pro-Tem Blake Fowler.
An overflow crowd was in attendance July 15 for the regular monthly meeting of the Canton City Council at Canton City Hall. The primary discussion item at the meeting had to do with the highly debated Grand Saline Creek Reservoir project the city has been involved in. A number of residents living in the reservoir project area voiced their objections to the city’s extensive long-term water resource strategy referencing a comprehensive water study initiated in 2004.
