The Fruitvale Lady Bobcats eased past Grapeland, 58-53, Feb. 10 in the bi-district round of the Class 2A state playoffs.

The defending Class 2A state champion Martins Mill Lady Mustangs began their title defense in impressive fashion Feb. 10 as they blew past Latexo, 105-42.

The Wills Point Lady Tigers got off to a strong start in post-season play Feb. 11 as they outlasted Paris, 31-27. The Lady Tigers were led in scoring by Maddy Allen with 10 points. The Lady Tigers advanced to the Area round of the Class 4A state playoffs against Mabank Feb. 13 in Canton, but results were not available at press time.

Dear Editor: I am calling on the 89th Texas Legislature to pass HB 2171, which would require the playing of our state song, ‘ Texas, Our Texas’ after the national anthem at public K-12 sporting events.
