Body The 2024 Van Zandt County Fair Pageant was recently held and the results were as follows: The ‘Ad Sales Winner’ is Casey Conway. Scholarships: 2nd Overall Points in all six categories and a $100.00 scholarship winner is Brooklyn Peoples.

Body Van ISD Superintendent Don Dunn made it official March 25 during the regular monthly meeting of the Van School Board that the school district will cancel classes Monday, April 8 due to the Solar Eclipse event. Board member Michael Johnson was not in attendance.

Body In a battle of Van Zandt County rivals March 15, the Canton Eaglettes outlasted the visiting Wills Point Lady Tigers, 8-0, in Canton.

Body A six-run sixth inning proved to be too much to overcome as the Wills Point Tiger varsity baseball team lost to Mabank, 11-0, March 19. Carson LaJone led the Tigers with one hit in two at bats.

Body Three varsity girls’ basketball players in Van Zandt County were recently named to the Class 4A All-Region Team by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. Among those named to the team were Landry Jones of Van, Chloe Howe of Canton, and Allison Rickman of Canton.
