Fruitvale ISD briefly put on lockdown

Fruitvale ISD Superintendent Rebecca Bain released the following statement May 25 following a possible threat to the school district on social media: “This morning (May 25), the district received notification of a possible threat on social media. The school district immediately notified law enforcement. Numerous agencies responded including the Fruitvale ISD Police Department, the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Wills Point ISD Police, VZC Pct. 1 and Pct. 3 Constables, and other agencies to support the district.

1926-2023 Margaret was a proud educator, an avid reader, and an antique dealer but she was most proud to be the mother of beloved identical twin daughters Nancy Jane and Peggy Jean, the grandmother to Cap, Elizabeth, Will and Laura and a sweet Nana to the seven most wonderful great grandchildren: Caroline, Andrew, Anna, Nell, Liam and Ransom. After spending many years in Mission, Texas and Mineola, Missouri, Margaret and Andy retired to the East Texas countryside near Colfax where they lived and farmed for nearly 30 years, hosting regular family reunions, complete with horseback riding, hayrides, games and music.

New officers installed by Colonial Dame

The new officers of the Martin’s Hundred Chapter, Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, were installed at the Tri-County Library in Mabank on May 11. Tamara Mouliere facilitated the installation of President Carrie Woolverton, Vice President JoAnn Bowman, Chaplain/ Librarian Rebecca Rosson, Treasurer Sherrie Archer, Secretary/ Historian Patricia Thibodeau and Registrar Karen Hall.
