Steven G. Brown, 71, of Tyler, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022. He was born April 4, 1951, to parents Oscar and Ethel Brown. Steve was baptized at the Canton Church of Christ when he was 11 years old.
Paula Dan Knowles Ray, 74, a wife, mother, and grandmother, passed peacefully next to her Bible on May 3, 2022. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Eubank Funeral Home, Canton at 1 p.m., with a reception beforehand at noon.

Deryle Martin, 73, went to be with The Lord on March 4, 2022, after a short illness. His life celebration with family and friends will be held in June 2022.

Honorary pallbearers were Freddie Shaw, Brian Shaw, Kyle Shaw, Wesley Isch, Bobby Edwards, “Bud” Mallar, Jimmie Mertz and Ronnie Daniels.
Doc Collins, President of the Van Zandt County Republicans, released the following information regarding the April meeting of the VZC Republicans: The April Van Zandt County Republican Club meeting was a training session for the delegates who will represent the VZC Republican Club at the state convention in Houston in June. We not only had delegates from our county but also from the counties of Kaufman, Rains, Hopkins and Henderson. The meeting was conducted by SREC Committeewoman Jerry Fisher and was aided by our SREC Committeeman Donny Wisenbaker and the VZC Republican Club County Chair Lance Lenz, Regional Director of the Texas Republican Party Troy Jackson, State Senator Bob Hall and State Rep Bryan Slaton. The Canton Eagles found themselves in a rare position last week, opening the playoffs against a higher seeded opponent after finishing fourth overall in District 14-4A play. Canton would take care of business despite those challenges, fending off the Nevada Community Braves in three games to advance to the Area round.
