On Sunday, Nov. 21, a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper arrested a man who fled on foot after he drove the wrong way on Interstate 20 and crashed his car into an 18-wheeler, according to Van Zandt County Sheriff Steve Hendrix.

The Edom Art Emporium will host Edom’s inaugural gingerbread house contest and winter stroll in Edom on from 3 to 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 4, in Edom.

The festival was a success with a large number of attendees strolling through the Edgewood Heritage Museum displays, looking at classic cars, shopping merchants and testing out a number of festival foods. Event participants dressed in period costume with live demonstrations of a blacksmith, musical entertainment and more.

The filing period for the 2022 Texas primary elections opened on Nov. 13, allowing candidates to file with their respective party chairs for spots on the March 1, 2022, primary ballot.
