Forest Service urges wildfire safety during hunting season

The Texas A&M Forest Service reminds Texans to be careful with activities that may cause a wildfire this hunting season. From 2017 to 2021, Texas A&M Forest Service responded to 3,682 wildfires burning 1.4 million acres.

Edgewood Halloween Carnival draws big crowd

The 48th annual Edgewood Halloween Carnival, hosted by Edgewood ISD and the City of Edgewood, was recently held with a good crowd on hand. The theme of the carnival this year was ‘Haunted on the Highway.’ Those attending the carnival ate cotton candy at the sophomore booth, took a hayride sponsored by the freshmen class, smashed a car provided by the GT Challengers, played a couple of rounds of cornhole with the middle school, and bounced in the elementary GT bounce houses.

A special memorial service has been arranged on Saturday, Nov. 5 to celebrate the life of Wyatt Brey, the Canton ISD student who passed in a tragic accident in late September.

Murder suspect arrested in Grand Saline

A 17-year old male suspect was arrested and booked into the Van Zandt County Jail on Capital Murder charges following a joint operation that included both the Grand Saline Police Department and United States Marshal Service Oct. 25.

VZC Jail receives ‘Certificate of Compliance’ from the state
