The Edgewood Lady Dogs volleyball team rallied to capture a four-game victory over Bullard Sept. 5.

With a winning percentage of 79, Stefani Curtis of Wills Point is the winner of Football Contest No. 2 in the Van Zandt News.

The Fruitvale cross country team competed at the North Hopkins Invitational Aug. 31 and the individual results for Fruitvale were as follows: Reyli Rubio, 17th place, 15:48.65; Brooklyn Brown, 40th place, 17:08.24; Madison Mae, 67th place, 23:00.33; and Ariana Smith, 71st place, 25.55.69. Junior high boys’ results for Fruitvale included Noel Baxter, 78th place, 18:41.30, and William Goforth, 120th place, 24:23.78.

Only two of the six Van Zandt County varsity football teams recorded wins on the first night of the 2023 high school football season Aug. 25.

Van Zandt County was well represented at Kaufman’s annual Run with the Lions event last week with four schools, Canton, Fruitvale, Edgewood and Wills Point, all entered to compete.
