davidb@vanzandtnews.com While three varsity football teams in Van Zandt County enjoyed some time off during their bye week, the undefeated Grand Saline Indians, along with the Edgewood Bulldogs, and the Fruitvale Bobcats made a clean sweep of things Oct. 4 with victories over their opponents.

davidb@vanzandtnews.com It was another good Friday night for most Van Zandt County football teams as the Grand Saline Indians (4-0) and the Canton Eagles (5-0) kept their season records perfect while three other VZC teams currently post winning records as well.

The Edgewood varsity cross-country team competed at the Ken Gaston ‘Race at the Lake’ Invitational in Grand Prairie Sept. 27.

With a winning percentage of 75, Allan Holloway of Canton is the winner of Football Contest No. 5 in the Van Zandt News.

The Van Lady Vandals won district volleyball matches over Canton at home Sept. 24 and at Brownsboro Sept.

In the varsity boys’ division of the Lone Oak cross-country meet, Ty Rotan of Edgewood finished in first place and set a personal record at the course with a time of 17:36. Other Edgewood participants in the varsity boys’ division included Kamden Davis, 22:34; Bryson Lumpkin, 23:30; and Jonathan Martinez, 25:10.
