Virginia McKnight Babcock West
1938 –2021
Virginia Ann West, 83, of Fort Worth, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior, passing from this earthly life into eternal life on Sept. 13, 2021, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Virginia was born June 26, 1938, in Dallas, Texas, to the late Louis Houston McKnight and Laura Maude McClure McKnight. During her elementary years her family moved to Wills Point, Texas. They eventually moved to Edgewood, Texas, where she graduated with the class of 1957 from Edgewood High School.
She worked in banking for many years, filling assorted roles and positions. She had many hobbies which included Bible studies, book club, fitness with her Silver Sneakers group, and traveling. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, word games and watching Wheel of Fortune. Most of all she loved telling people about Jesus and spending time with her friends and cherished family.
Virginia met James West at church, and they were married in May 2001 until James’ death in February 2019. They traveled by RV through Canada, Mexico and 48 states visiting many of the state capital buildings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Houston and Laura McKnight; husband, James West; brother, Harris McKnight and sisters, Melba Robertson and Margaret Dagley.
Virginia is survived and will be forever missed by sons, Bill Babcock of Conroe; Bert (Kim) Babcock of Montgomery; daughter, Elicia (Phillip) Stone of Garland; grandchildren, Mistie (Brian) Barrera; Sean (Carmen) Babcock; Josh, Lacie and Lori Stone; Erin (Michael) Bohnet; CJ (Kelcie) Elliott; Heather Babcock; great-grandchildren, Jaiden Frideley; Anthony Barrera; Adelynn and Hunter Elliott; Haven Bohnet along with many nieces, nephews, countless friends and other relatives.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021, 10:30 a.m. at EMIC in Newark, Texas.
