Robert Eugene Kober, lovingly known by many as “Pops,” of Edgewood, passed away Dec. 30, 2021, in Tyler, at the age of 56. Robert was born Aug. 19,
Robert was born Aug. 19, 1965, in Marrero, Louisiana, to Mrs. Louise Grimes. Robert grew up in Belle Chase and graduated from Belle Chase High School. Robert relocated to Texas and met the love of his life, Gale, and they were married on Sept. 6, 2008.
Robert was a skilled tractor mechanic for over 25 years. He loved fishing, hunting, riding his Harley, and cooking Cajun food for his family and friends. Robert was always willing to help anyone in need, whether it be fixing something or teaching them how to do it. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone, whether he just met you or knew you his entire life.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Louise Grimes and brother, Tommy Guffey.
He is survived by his spouse, Gale Kober; stepson, Justin Ballew and his wife Katherine; grandchildren, Gracelynn and Rylie; brothers, James Guffey (Kathy), Mike Guffey (Sue), Billy Guffey (Gail), Paul Grimes (Brandy); sister, Sheila Guffey; sister-in-law, Greta (Mark) Salvaggio; mother-in-law, Jerry Farris, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by special friends, Russell and Theresa Atteberry, their children James (Chelsea) Atteberry, Elizabeth (Trevor) Harmon and his six “bonus” grandkids, Brody Cook, Graceynn, Baileynn, and Huck Atteberry, and Ransom and Reed Harmon.
He will be missed by many and will forever be in our hearts and minds. Ride fast and fly high, Pops!
A celebration of life will be held Jan. 15, 2022, at 3 p.m. at the Train Depot in Wills Point.
