Mary Jo Wilson-Cherry passed away peacefully at home on June 10, 2024, at the age of 94 with family. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Leo Wilson and Raymond Cherry; son, Ron Slay, brothers, Forrest and Marvin; sisters, Charlene and Bobby; and great-great-granddaughter Kyla Lanae Couch.
Mary Jo was born on December 20, 1929, in Childress to the late Jess W. Howard and Minnie Eudy Howard. She had been a resident of Ben Wheeler for 20 years, formally living in Array, New Mexico. She was a member of Little Hope Baptist Church of Canton, Red Hat Floosies, and WMU. She enjoyed spending time with her family and caring for neighbors and friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-Grandma, great-great-grandma and great-great-great-Grandma.
Survivors include her children, Tona Moore, Rhonda Alexander (Jim), Robin Wilson, Leon Wilson (Jane); nine grandchildren, Beth Anne Slay, John Rogers, Sandi Thiessen, Leo Rogers, Sherry Yarbrough, Palma Christianson, Steve Wilson and Jonathon Wilson; six great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-granddaughter, Ofelia Lanae.
Memorial was held at Little Hope Baptist Church on June 22, 2024, at 2 PM.
