James (Jim) Milton Owens passed on Feb. 11, 2022, in Tyler. Formerly a resident of Rio Dell, California, and Grants Pass, Oregon, before making his home in Ben Wheeler, Texas, where he lived for 42 years. Jim was born on Feb. 19, 1951, to Bonnie Damm and Joseph Owens. Jim loved to spend time with his family, ride his Harley, loved God, would lend a hand to anyone in need, and especially enjoyed therapy. Jim was preceded by his mother, Bonnie Damm, his father, Joseph Owens, his sister Juanita Wickens, and brother Joseph Owens Jr.

He is survived by his three children, James Owens Jr. and wife Anna, daughter, Mechelle Evette Little and husband, Ricky, and son Robert Owens and wife Wendy, his sister, Ruby Owens, and brothers, Arthur Owens and wife Susan, Jerry Owens, Bob, and Danny McFall. He leaves behind nine grandchildren, Samantha Goode and husband Aaron, Julian Cawthon and wife Ariel, Kennedy Nichols and husband Ben, Ricky Little, Chelsea Little, Crystal Cooke, and husband Josh, Brian Jenkins, Twyla Mathis and Starla Mathis, and great-grandchildren Ellie Mae Nichols and numerous other nieces, nephews, friends and in particular a lifelong friend Peggy Sue Philippi.

Services to celebrate the life of Jim Owens will be held on March 5, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Heritage Trail Cowboy Church.
