James ‘Gordon’ Ragle, 85, of Wills Point passed away on November 20, 2025, in Sherman. He was born on April 6, 1940, in Denison to Porter Van Ragle and Dorothy Evelyn Smith Ragle.

Gordon grew up and graduated from high school in the Dallas/Oak Cliff area. On August 28, 1959, he married his one true love, LaVerne VanBriggle.

The couple had 66 wonderful and loving years at her passing in June. They moved to Canton in 1980 and were long term members of Cana Baptist Church.

Gordon enjoyed a good day of fishing. He was a great provider for his wife and children. Some of his best days were spent working on his classic car with his sons, grandsons and friends. Gordon was a good and faithful servant to the Lord and deeply loved his family.

Gordon is preceded in death by his parents, Porter and Dorothy Ragle; beloved wife, LaVerne Ragle: four brothers, Bob Ragle, Bill Ragle, Craig Ragle and Ricky Ragle; sisters, Sue Dorflinger and Darlene Busbee.

He is survived by his children: Sharon and Steve Warrick, James ‘Bubba’ and Kelly Ragle, and Van and Phyllis Ragle; grandchildren: Shayna Warrick, Sara Warrick, James Gordon Ragle III and Shayla, Jason Ragle and Claire, John Ragle, Jesse Ragle, Justin Ragle, Clifton Ragle, Devan Ragle; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Marshall Ragle and Vickie, Michael Ragle; sisters, Linda Moon, Donna Dorflinger and Joe, Elaine Hamilton; several nieces and nephews; and a multitude of other family and friends.

Gordon will be laid to rest next to his beloved, La-Verne, at Cana Cemetery in Wills Point.
