Bonds for 16 newly elected Van Zandt County elected officials were approved Jan. 4 during the first regular meeting of the VZC Commissioners Andy Reese and VZC Pct. 4 Commissioner Brandon Barton were in attendance for their first commissioners’ court meeting.

A request for volunteer assistance at the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Department was tabled Dec. 7 by the VZC Commissioners Court during its Erin McLeaish and VZC Sheriff Joe Carter were present to make the request to the commissioners’ court.

The East Texas Council of Governments recently announced $89,129.12 in grants from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality awarded to East Texas jurisdictions and special districts to support regional waste minimization efforts in ETCOG’s 14-county region.
