Van Zandt County Pct. 1 Commissioner Chad LaPrade recognized two of his employees during the regular meeting of the VZC Commissioners Court March 1 for rendering aid recently to a VZC senior citizen.

All Van ISD campuses were placed under temporary lockdown on the afternoon of March 7 following a bomb threat that was called in to the Van Police Department. “At approximately 12:50 called into the Van Police Department,” said Van ISD Superintendent Don Dunn through the school district’s Facebook page.

Van Zandt County will soon be 175 years old. The Van Zandt County Genealogical Society, in partnership with other local history groups, will hold a birthday party for the county on Saturday, March 25, from 2-4 p.m. at the Blackwell House Museum and Van Zandt County Library located at 317 First Monday Lane in Canton.
