During an 11-minute open session at the beginning of their regular monthly meeting July 31, the Van School Board approved a proposed tax rate of $0.94900 for the 202526 school year. The proposed tax rate represents a 3.65 cent (3.70 percent) reduction from 202425, according to Van ISD Director of Business/ Finance Danny Morrow.

Multiple people indicted in deadly truck crash

news@kaufmanherald.com A truck driver at the wheel that killed five people on I-20 near Terrell was indicted on multiple charges by a Kaufman County grand jury this past week. A company official for the trucking company, Hope Trans, was also indicted for felony forgery.

Correspondent The Wills Point City Council held a special session Thursday, July 31, in the City Hall/Municipal Building. The full council was present for a quorum.
