Three Van High School graduating seniors who participated in the 2024 Van Oil Pageant will be recognized Tuesday, March 4, during the Van Area Chamber of Commerce Quarterly Luncheon downtown at The Movie House.
The luncheon will be held from noon to 1 p.m. with doors opening at 11:30 a.m. The menu will be a Baked Potato Bar for a $5.00 donation.
2024 Van Oil Queen Isabel Sneed, First Runner-Up Samantha Gilchrist, and Second Runner-Up Hollynne Moseley will be recognized during the luncheon.
Isabel Sneed
Isabel Sneed is active in Van FFA (Future Farmers of America), Public Speaking, Advocacy, and Extemporaneous Speaking.
Her ambition is to see the world while spreading the Word of God and to work with endangered shark species.
After high school, she plans to go to Tyler Junior College for a Bachelors in Communications degree while getting ASL certified to become a flight attendant and possibly be stationed in New York.
She will be receiving a $1,200.00 scholarship from the chamber.
Samantha Gilchrist
Samantha Gilchrist is active as a Van High School Twirler, Band, Van FFA President, Area VI FFA Vice-President, VHS Leadership Team, and National Honor Society Vice-President.
After graduation, Samantha will attend UT-Austin as a Biology major. She was recently admitted into the prestigious Health Science Scholars Honors program and their Freshman Research Initiative. She plans to become a dermatologist.
She will be receiving a $500.00 scholarship from the chamber.
Hollynne Moseley
Hollynne is active in Varsity Cheer and is president of the HOSA Club and National Honors Society.
Her ambition is to go on to school to become an anethesiologist.
She will be receiving a $250.00 scholarship from the chamber.
Also, during the chamber luncheon, Van ISD Superintendent Don Dunn and Van ISD Director of Instructional Technology Jason Johnson will be giving a presentation on the Van ISD STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) Bus.
The bus will be in the parking lot of The Movie House and tours of the bus will be offered before and after the luncheon.
