davidb@vanzandtnews.com Contenders and pretenders will begin to separate themselves now that the battle for district championships and playoff positioning will be taking shape over the next month or so, Two Van Zandt County varsity football teams, the Edgewood Bulldogs and the Grand Saline Indians have started their district competition while the Van Vandals, the Canton Eagles, and the Wills Point Tigers started their run for potential district titles and post-season berths this past week.

With a winning percentage of 67, David Moffatt of Canton is the winner of Football Contest #6 in the Van Zandt News. Moffatt will win $50.00 in merchandise coupons redeemable at the participating merchants on the contest pages.
