Stretch run for potential football playoff positions continues

While the Van Vandals have already clinched their berth for the upcoming state football playoffs, four other schools are trying to punch their tickets as well, but it will be more than likely that those playoff hopes won’t be finalized until after the final regular season game is played Friday, Nov. 3.

Following an emotional ‘Senior Night’victory over the Brownsboro Bears Oct. 20, the Canton Eagles listened to the playing of the school song. Among those standing at attention were Logan Faglie (4), Mike Vasquez (61), Collin Campuzano (20), and Noe Mendieta (7). The annual Van Oil Queen Pageant was held Oct. 14. The Van Oil Queen Court was named which included Cassidy Stewart, Queen; Shelby Owens, First Runner-Up; Cora Mosely, Second Runner-Up; Grace Hyepock, Teen Miss; Melody Hooks, First Runner-Up; Olivia Gore, Young Miss; Aliya Lemus, Petite Miss; Huntly Whitehead, Dainty Miss; Lillian Milewski, Little Miss; Maven Armour, Baby Miss; and Cameron James, Baby Roughneck. Action tabled by commissioners’ court regarding purchase of radios

At the conclusion of their open session during their regular meeting Oct. 11, the Van Zandt County Commissioners Court tabled action on the purchase of radios as part of their long-term agreement with technology company L3 Harris based in Melbourne, Florida.
