A number of elected officials and other speakers brought up a number of topics, but animal control ended up resulting in the most comments and questions.

During a special called meeting May 13, the Van Zandt County Commissioners Court announced that they have moved the date of their next regular meeting. The meeting date has been moved from Wednesday, May 22 to Tuesday, May 21 beginning at 9 a.m.

Following much discussion, the Van City Council approved in a 4-0 vote to adjust the staffing levels of the Van Police Department to enhance recruitment and retention of officers. The action was taken by the council during its regular monthly meeting May 9.
