History of Van to be featured following oil festival parade

Visitors to the Van Oil Festival are invited to a special free event focusing on the unique history of Van. On Saturday, Oct.19, immediately after the Van Oil Festival Parade, Dwayne and Cathy Wheeler will lead a tour, by bicycle or car (participants’ choice), to view all eight historical markers in Van.

Fall festivals in full swing in VZC

While the temperatures outside recently might indicate something different, it is officially fall in Van Zandt County as a number of festivals are scheduled throughout the month of October. Young and old alike will have plenty of opportunities to visit several outdoor events over the coming days and here a just a few of the activities happening in VZC.

VZC football teams go 3-0 during Oct. 4 matchups

davidb@vanzandtnews.com While three varsity football teams in Van Zandt County enjoyed some time off during their bye week, the undefeated Grand Saline Indians, along with the Edgewood Bulldogs, and the Fruitvale Bobcats made a clean sweep of things Oct. 4 with victories over their opponents.
