During their final regular meeting of 2025 on Dec. 31, the Van Zandt County Commissioners Court voted unanimously to authorize VZC Judge Andy Reese to apply for the Texas Historical Commission Courthouse Program’s (THCPP) Courthouse Restoration Grant in 2026.

Rachel Hogue, a certified principal and 14-year educator, and the first to announce her candidacy, has officially filed her paperwork for the Texas State Board of Education, District 9 position. Hogue, a seventh generation Texan, was born and raised in Grand Saline, and now resides in Mineola with her husband, Benjamin, a Custom Saddle Maker and toiler.

Karen Reeves is announcing her candidacy for Van Zandt County Judge to serve the good people of VZC. She will bring a fresh focus through a Biblical internal motivation and will not take a salary from the people.
