Arthritis is a broad category of joint and connective tissue disorders that impacts around one in five people in both Canada and the United States, according to the Arthritis Society of Canada. In fact, arthritis is a leading cause of disability for many people around the world. Arthritis becomes a greater concern as people age. That’s particularly so with osteoarthritis, which is a degenerative condition caused by repeated use and stress on joints.

Temporary Restraining Order extended to Aug. 29

According to Van Zandt County Criminal District Attorney Tonda Curry, the Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) against the developers of a lithium battery storage facility being built south of Canton has been extended through Friday, Aug. 29 by VZC District Judge Chris Martin of the 294th Judicial District.

Proposed tax rate approved by Van School Board

During an 11-minute open session at the beginning of their regular monthly meeting July 31, the Van School Board approved a proposed tax rate of $0.94900 for the 202526 school year. The proposed tax rate represents a 3.65 cent (3.70 percent) reduction from 202425, according to Van ISD Director of Business/ Finance Danny Morrow.

Multiple people indicted in deadly truck crash

news@kaufmanherald.com A truck driver at the wheel that killed five people on I-20 near Terrell was indicted on multiple charges by a Kaufman County grand jury this past week. A company official for the trucking company, Hope Trans, was also indicted for felony forgery.
