The AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) and the Van Zandt County/ Sarah Norman Library, located at 317 First Monday Lane in Canton, are sponsoring a driver safety class from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19.

December 17, 1938 – August 28, 2024 Zura Ann Shields 85, of Canton went home to the Lord on August 28, 2024. A funeral service celebrating her life was held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Eubank Funeral Home with Bro.

October 10 ,1943 – September 2, 2024 Cheryl “Darlene” Moss, 80, of Mesquite passed away on September 2, 2024, in Dallas. Darlene was born on October 10, 1943, in Waco to Joseph Aaron Reed and Stella Cleo Moats Reed.

December 17, 1951 – August 26, 2024 A funeral service for Bobby “Bob” Stiefer, 72, of Jacksonville, was held Friday, August 30, 2024, at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Visitation was from on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the funeral home.

June 10, 1933 – August 29, 2024 On August 29, 2024, Foy Wayne Kirkland went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Foy was born June 10, 1933, the third of seven children to Ernest Joe Kirkland and Mary Ann (Morris) Kirkland.

September 18, 1933 – August 23, 2024 Billy Wayne Hudson was born September 18, 1933, in Canton where he was raised and then returned to live there after his retirement. He and his wife, Joanna, also lived in Seagoville, Dallas, and Cedar Creek.

August 5, 1923 – September 1, 2024 Bruce Ned Cheatham was born in Edgewood to Robert Boone and Hope Winifred Cheatham on the family farm. He grew up loving life.
