The TexasA&M Extension Service Offices of Van Zandt County, Smith County, Rains County and Kaufman County have announced Summit June 30 from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Van Zandt County Farm Bureau Center located at 220 Burnett Trail in Canton.

McPherson College, a four-year private college located in central Kansas, has announced that Hunter Robinson of Edgewood was among the students that earned a degree and graduated from the college on May 20, 2023. Public election equipment demonstration set for June 22

Van Zandt County Judge Andy Reese announced recently that there will be a public election equipment demonstration beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at the Canton Civic Center., located at 800 Flea Market Road in Canton. The demonstration is open to all registered voters in VZC.

Sculpture unveiled during downtown Canton ceremony

Treasures from the past were featured in a horseshoe sculpture that was officially unveiled by the City of Canton during a special outdoor ceremony June 9 near downtown Canton. The sculpture, meticulously crafted by Van Zandt County artist Jon Wiley Keen, was unveiled during the ceremony at the intersection of State Highway 64 and Grand Saline Street.

City of Van EDC releases list of long-standing businesses in Van

Businesses in Van have staying power. That is the title of a recently released report from the City of Van Economic Development Corporation (EDC) showing a number of businesses in Van that are still in operation after a number of years of service.

Early settler recognized at celebration

Members and guests gathered on May 7, 2023 to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the Four Mile Lutheran Church near Prairieville, Texas. Honored during the day’s festivities was Henrietta Christiane Marie Waldt Reierson who recognized as an Early Settler of the Free State of Van Zandt and Citizen of the Republic of Texas.
