Audition for parts in ‘Sleuth’ at The Talent Box

Virginia Reid-Yost will hold auditions for parts in the production of “Sleuth,” written by Anthony Shaffer, at The Talent Box, 133 N. 4th Street, Wills Point. These auditions will be Sunday, March 27, at 3 p.m. and Monday, March 28 at 7 p.m. Performance dates are May 6, 7, 13, 14 and 15.

Texas real estate market continues boom

The Texas Association of Appraisal Districts announced historic growth in Texas real estate values. According to the association, regions around the state have seen increases in values between 20-50 percent since last year.

7th annual Back the Blue Benefit set for June 11

The Wills Point Police Department is expected to welcome hundreds of visitors to Jack Lester Park June 11 as they host their 7 th annual Back the Blue Benefit. The event has become a family favorite in recent years, with music, demonstrations and a BBQ cookoff serving as key highlights.

March 26: The Wills Point Ladies Club will host its 5th annual Burgers ‘n’ Games fundraising event at the Wills Point High School campus beginning 5 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person, and include admission, a burger basket (burger, chips and drink), and access to a wide array of games that will be played throughout the evening. Tables for six attendees are also available for purchase. Those interested in attending are asked to purchase their tickets early due to limited seating. Tickets are available from any WPLC member. It was a fun crafting day at the Grand Saline Library March 17. Library visitors were encouraged to make a hedgehog out of old books and craft supplies.

We had a wonderful spring break at the Grand Saline Public Library. Thank you to everyone that chose to spend some of your time with us last week. Seeing all the happy smiling faces made us even more excited about our plans for the summer.

Lindale blanks Tigers 3-0

The Wills Point Tiger baseball program continued to inch its way towards the start of district play last week, traveling to Lindale to take on a solid Eagles squad. Lindale would ultimately prevail in the contest, getting three strong pitching performances in a 3-0 win over the Tigers.

Fast start propels Canton Eagles to win

The Canton Eagles hit the ground running last week, lighting up the scoreboard in both the first and second innings on their way to a 9-3 triumph over Redwater March 18. Canton’s offense wasted little time in leaving their mark on the contest, plating five runs in the bottom of the first for a commanding 5-0 lead.

Track teams compete at Farmer Relays

The Wills Point Tiger track and field program sent competitors to Farmersville March 17 to compete at the annual Farmer Relays. Wills Point placed first overall as a team in the varsity boys division with 127.25 points, ahead of Mabank, Royse City, Greenville, Blue Ridge, Sanger, Caddo Mills, Nevada Community and Farmersville.
