The Canton Texas Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual lighted Christmas Parade at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 11.

The Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Offi ce released the following arrest report from Nov. 23-Dec.

Families served in Van Zandt County by Texas Water Utilities received Greenberg Smoked Turkeys for Thanksgiving this year, as part of the Project Wishbone program launched in 2012. Project Wishbone provides access to a Thanksgiving meal for Texas Water Utilities customers who may not be able to afford one.

The Special People Christmas Party will be held from 2 to 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 11, at the First United Methodist Church, 600 S.

Hope Pregnancy’s Center annual candle lighting Heavenly Children’s Legacy event will be held at 6 p.m., Dec. 10, at the Castle Park in Canton.

The first meeting of the VFW Post in Canton will be held at 6:30 p.m., Dec. 9, in the upstairs conference area of the American National Bank in Canton (the bank by Tractor Supply.) A second meeting has been set for Jan. 13.

Jerry Tom Airhart, 79, of Roswell, New Mexico, passed away on Nov. 29, 2021, in Roswell. There will be a service held at 1 p.m., Dec. 6, 2021, at Forrest Heights United Methodist Church, 3007 33rd St., Lubbock, with Pastor Doug Hensley officiating.

Donald Joe Sturdevant, 72, of Wills Point, Texas, passed away on Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, in Forney. Donald was born on Sept. 10, 1949, in Dallas, to the late Edgar and Ruby Sturdevant. He was raised in Dallas. Donald married the love of his life; his late wife, Susan Goss on April 8, 1972. He retired from Big D Quality Printing in 2012. Donald enjoyed fishing and had a fishing barge named Hobo.

A celebration of life for Theo C. “Cotton” Miles, 97, of Wills Point, were held Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, at Russell Memorial United Methodist Church in Wills Point with a reception immediately following. Services were under the direction of Hiett’s Ly-Brand Funeral Home.

Charlotte Ann Hale, 86, of Wills Point, passed away on Tuesday, Nov 23, 2021, in Dallas. Charlotte was born on March 14, 1935, in Hawley, to the late Alton and Pauline Faulks.
