The Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office released the following arrest report from May 18-May 31. Emilio Andrade-Lopez, 37, Eustace, arrested on site for driving with an invalid/suspended license with a previous conviction without financial responsibility.

On a warm and windy morning, a good crowd was on hand for the annual Van Zandt County Memorial Day Ceremony May 30 at the VZC Veterans Memorial in Canton. The program began with members of Scout Troop 378 presenting the colors followed by Ginger Pickett singing the National Anthem.

Good news was received during the regular meeting of the Van Zandt County Commissioners Court as they heard a report on their annual audit May 25. John Manning of the Waco audit firm of Patillo, Brown, and Hill L.L.P.

After officially being sworn into office at midnight May 14, a public swearing-in ceremony was held for Van Zandt County Interim Sheriff Joe Carter May 22 at the VZC Courthouse. VZC Judge Don Kirkpatrick welcomed those in attendance at the public swearing-in ceremony.
