The 2022-23 Vandalite yearbooks have arrived at Van High School. These personalized 256-page, full color yearbooks capture the events from all of the Van ISD campus levels.

With the total solar eclipse event in Van Zandt County just a few weeks away, the Van City Council heard an update on a three-day festival planned at Mc-Millan Park around the Monday, April 8 time frame.

davidb@vanzandtnews.com Van ISD Superintendent Don Dunn announced the names of five new members that will be inducted into the Van ISD Faculty and Staff Hall of Fame later this year. The announcement was made during the regular monthly meeting of the Van School Board Feb.

During the Feb. 19 candidate forum at The Silver Spur Resort in Canton, four candidates running for the Van Zandt County Pct. 1 seat shared their views, Incumbent Chad LaPrade is being challenged by Mitch Curtis, Brandon Holland, and Mike Taylor as the candidates took turns addressing the audience and sharing their visions for the precinct.

davidb@vanzandtnews.com Early Voting ended March 1 for the March 5 Primary Election. As of the end of the business day Feb. 28, a total of 3,077 votes had been cast during the first nine days of Early Voting for the March 5 Primary Election, according to the Van Zandt County Clerk’s office.

The Whitton Fire Department volunteers will host a hamburger supper fundraiser starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 9.

The Canton Civic Center, located at 800 Flea Market Road in Canton, will be hosting a Gun Show March 8-10. The show will take place from 4-8 p.m.
