A software upgrade to the Van Zandt County Financial Package received unanimous approval by the VZC Commissioners Court during its regular meeting April 24. The upgrade received approval from the commissioners’ court following a presentation by VZC Auditor Sandy Hill.
The 73rd annual National Day of Prayer is scheduled for Thursday, May 2. The event will be held at the Van Zandt County Court at Law Courtroom inside the VZC Courthouse in Canton with the prayer service beginning at 12:15 p.m. and continuing until 12:45 p.m.
davidb@vanzandtnews.com Early Voting for the Saturday, May 4 city and school elections in Van Zandt County continues through Tuesday, April 30. City elections will be held in Grand Saline, Van, and Wills Point while school elections will take place in Edgewood, Fruitvale, and Van.
Wade Emerson, 56, and his wife, Pam Rankin Emerson, have two children: Cassie (Tyler) McDaniel and Kylie (Garrett) Simmons. Emerson is a 1986 graduate of Wills Point High School and is employed as an electrician and in concrete construction.
Kyle Ward, 32, and his wife, Sariana Lovelady, have two children: Landon Ward and Remy Ward. Ward graduated from high school before attending trade school for one year.
Cavin Travis, 58, and his wife, Wendy, have two children, Chandler and Mason. Travis earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Development and a Master’s of Science degree in Agricultural Education at Texas A&M University.
