Lady Vandals outslug Wills Point, 17-7

The Van Lady Vandals put on an offensive exhibition when the two teams met up on April 19, combining for 34 hits and 24 runs. Once the dust finally settled Van would come away victorious, pulling out the 17-7 victory to finish the season with a 3-7 mark in district play.

Vandals top Tigers in rivalry game

The Van Vandals stayed within the confines of Van Zandt County on Tuesday night, making the short trek to Wills Point to tangle with the rival Tigers. Shaky fielding would be a major storyline in the contest as Van capitalized on nine Tiger miscues in the field to take home a 15-7 win.

Edgewood, Grand Saline compete at District 12-3A Meet

The Edgewood Bulldog and Grand Saline Indian track and field programs made their way to Rains High School last week, looking to extend their respective seasons by one more meet as they squared off against athletes from Commerce, Lone Oak, Prairiland, Paris Chisum and Emory Rains April 6-7.

Mustangs advance five to Area Meet

The Martins Mill track and field team competed at the District 19-2A Meet April 6, performing well enough to qualify five athletes to the Area Meet. Frankston won first overall in the varsity boys division with 206 points, followed by Kerens with 144 points, Cayuga with 114 points, Cross Roads with 65 points, Martins Mill with 40 points and LaPoynor with 30 points.

Eagles best Tigers in rivalry game

The Canton Eagles played host to a familiar foe on Tuesday night, clashing with the rival Wills Point Tigers in a District 14-4A showdown. Canton would go on to get the better of the matchup, breaking open a tie game in the third inning on their way to a 7-1 win.

Grand Saline Indians stay hot in district play

The Grand Saline Indians continued to build up positive momentum heading towards this year’s postseason, running their winning streak to five games overall with triumphs over Lone Oak and Paris Chisum last week.

Van Vandals breeze past Athens, 9-1

The Van Vandals stayed busy last week, playing three games total over a five-day span including a pair of district contests. Van went 2-1 overall during the three games, downing both Mabank and Athens.

Lady Indians get past Chisum, 4-3

Body
The Grand Saline Lady Indians made the trek to Paris on April 12, dueling with Chisum in a key District 12-3A matchup. Grand Saline would pull out the victory in the contest, keeping the Lady Mustangs at bay to earn a 4-3 win.

Eaglettes stretch shutout streak to three

The Canton Eaglettes entered last week looking for a bounce back game, having seen their four-game district winning streak snapped with a 4-1 loss to Mabank April 1. Canton easily accomplished the feat, completing the season sweep of Van April 6 before doing the same against Brownsboro April 8 and Wills Point April 11.
