He is survived by his wife of 66 years; Anna Tunnell Pool, the love of his life; daughter, Kay (Don) Shubeck of Lakeland, Tennessee; son, Roger (Rhonda) Pool of North Little Rock, Arkansas, and MaryBeth Mansfield of Benton, Arkansas; Six grandchildren, Phillip (Hannah} Pool, Keith Shubeck, Chelsea (Jacob) Gray, Conner (Whitney) Shubeck, Chandler (Haley) Mansfield, and Andrew Pool; Six great-grandchildren: Lacey and Levi Mansfield, Stella and Scarlett Gray, and Penelope and Hendrix Pool.

Paul was a 1957 graduate of Canton High School. In 1959, he married his high school sweetheart, Anna Tunnell. Together, they worked to put him through college at Southern Methodist University where he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering with high honors in 1962. He began his career as a civil engineer with the Federal Highway Administration. His 31 years of public service were joyfully fulfilled in California, New Mexico, D.C., Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas and ended with his retirement in Louisiana in 1994. He then started his own engineering consulting firm (PWP Inc.) where he was project manager for the design and construction of the River Rail Streetcar system that serves North Little Rock and Little Rock and assisted the Louisiana Department of Transportation with repair and costs associated with hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Paul modeled a strong work ethic for his children and grandchildren.
