Funeral services for John Franklin Butler, 84, of Wills Point, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Wesley Barnett officiating. John passed away on April 1, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Jackson on April 10, 1938, to Harvey Franklin and Princie Delilah (Pittman) Butler. John grew up loving the outdoors where he enjoyed fishing and hunting for squirrels. He graduated from Wills Point High School and soon became a proud member of the U.S. Army. In 1966, John was blessed to marry Lucinda and enjoyed 20 wonderful years together. To anyone who knew John, they would describe him as a humble man, frugal, who liked to piddle around the house and fix things. John would work on a project until it was finished and finished well. He had a saying and a belief that, “A job worth doing is worth doing right”. John was an active man of faith and attended Crossroads Rowlett Church. He married Beth in 1987 and they held a strong union for 30 happy years. John loved spending time with his family that he was so proud of, and relaxing with his beloved canine, Arial.

John is survived by his sons: Jeff Butler and wife, Jodi, and John Butler and wife, Rose; grandchildren: Hannah and Kaila; great grandchild, Ella; stepfamily: Kelly Allison and Ted Wimberly and wife, Amanda; step grandchildren: Casey Huff; CJ Huff; Elizabeth Hair; Nikki Wimberly, and Derek Wimberly; brother, Ronny Butler; cousins: Michael Hall; Harry Hall; Sandy Hall, and Charlotte Butler, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Lucinda Butler; his second wife, Beth Butler; parents, Harvey and Princie Butler, and stepchildren: Kathy Hair and Kevin Huff.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.
