Funeral services for Carroll Wayne Russell, 84, of Grand Saline, were held Friday, July 21, 2023, at Main Street Baptist Church with Bro. David Crain officiating.

Interment followed at Woodside Cemetery.

Carroll passed away Sunday, July 16, 2023, in Grand Saline. He was born July 7, 1939, in Edgewood, to the late J.C. and Vesta Idalia (Taylor) Russell. Carroll was raised in Grand Saline where he graduated from GSHS in 1957. He had also lived 25 years at Lake Tawakoni, before moving back to Grand Saline 25 years ago. Carroll spent 28 years working for Western Union. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Barbara Herrin, and Patricia Moore; brothers-in-law, O.C. Herrin, Preston Moore, Butch Koonce, and George Doerr III; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Melba Doerr.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lynda Russell of Grand Saline; son, Ryan Caldwell and wife, Elissa, of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada; daughter, Heather Walters and Jason Harris of Terrell; sister, Judy Alphin and husband, Jack, of Grand Saline; grandchildren, Caitlin and Clayton Korinek, Aliya Caldwell, Makayla Walters, Cassara Caldwell, Sarinna Caldwell, and Jace Harris; great grandchild, Jayden Korinek; and numerous other loving family members and friends.

Serving as pallbearers were Shane Koonce, John Teague, Preston Moore, Jacob Moore, Blake Teague, and Colin Cater.
