Grand Saline Library to offer in-person events

We are excited to welcome a new month at the library. This year seems to be flying by. Our free take home craft kits for March are a paper hyacinth craft and a recycled book teacup craft. Both kits are now available at the Grand Saline Library.

Appointments approved by VZC Commissioners Court

Two appointments to the Van Zandt County Historical Commission received unanimous approval March 2 during the regular meeting of the VZC Commissioners Court. VZC Historical Commission President Elvis Allen was in attendance to recommend that Carrie Woolverton and Robert Gaston be appointed to the commission.

It was around 9:30 p.m. March 1, when a final tally of votes was in for the 2022 Primary Election. There were 8,774 total votes cast, with 8,149 Republican and 625 Democratic votes. There were a total of 3,104 votes cast during Early Voting. Voter turnout for Van Zandt County was 22.40 percent. Van Zandt County has 39,178 registered voters.

Scholarships awarded March 1 during Van Chamber Luncheon

Scholarships were presented to three Van High School students March 1 during the Van Area Chamber of Commerce’s Quarterly Luncheon downtown at The Movie House. Chamber president Pat Valentine presented scholarship awards from the chamber to the 2021 Van Oil Queen, Cara Potter; first runner-up Megan Mande; and second runner-up Anyka Costner.

Edgewood court to hold citation, warrant event
