Lady Mustangs capture second straight state title Feb. 27 with win over Farwell in overtime, 43-41
The Martins Mill Lady Mustangs ended their 2024-25 season on a memorable note Feb. 27 as they are now back-to-back Class 2A, Division 2, State Champions after outlasting Farwell, 43-41, in overtime at The Alamodome in San Antonio.
Not only did they win their second consecutive state title, the Lady Mustang program has now won eight state championships in 20 state tournament appearances.
Martins Mill, 35-2, won state in 2006, 2008, 2013, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2024, and now 2025.
Against Farwell, the Lady Mustangs trailed 12-10 after the first quarter and 26-23 at halftime, but Martins Mill rallied in the second half to lead 31-29 at the end of the third quarter.
With the game tied at 37-37 after regulation, the Lady Mustangs outscored Farwell, 6-4, in the overtime period to take the state title.
Martins Mill was led in scoring by McKenna Wise with 17 points followed by Kara Nixon with nine, Ruthie Mein and Teely Salazar with six each, and Allison Vaughan with five.
