STATE CHAMPS

Body
One of the greatest moments arguably in the history of Martins Mill Lady Mustang basketball was witnessed March 2 by many in person at The Alamodome in San Antonio and on various social media posts, but one person who never saw the ball actually go through the basket at the buzzer was the one who made the game-winning shot. Lady Mustang freshman Kara Nixon took an inbounds pass in the final seconds of the tied state championship game against Nocona, raced the full length down the court, and laid the ball in against the backboard and in the basket at the buzzer as she was fouled and knocked down to the floor.
The Martins Mill Lady Mustangs capped off a remarkable 2023-24 basketball season by winning the Class 2A State Championship March 2 with an exciting 44-42 victory over Nocona.
