David Norman Barbee 1967-2023

David Norman Barbee was born in Arlington on August 18,1967, and passed away August 8,2023, in Phil Campbell, Alabama, where he resided with his wife, Marcy, and grandson, Zander. David was the youngest son of Sylvia Jo Burnett Barbee and the late Ernest (Ernie) Gerald Barbee of Canton.

Andy Flowers 1947-2023

Andy Flowers was born in Sulphur Springs and grew up in Brinker. He was one of six children of John and Ada Flowers. He joined the Army in 1966 and was discharged in 1972. He was a father to Brandy and Jeffrey from his first marriage. His second marriage was to Sherry, who had four children and he became their dad, also. He worked for 36 years of which 27 years were in the service of the CIA. He was president of the Employees Club, Homeowners Association, Crime Stoppers and Richland Cemetery. He loved golf and won several championships at D.A.C. He retired to his farm west of Canton. He was a member of the Van Zandt Country Club. He loved all of his family which produced many joys and memories in his life.

Fruitvale cross country competes at North Hopkins Invitiational

The Fruitvale cross country team competed at the North Hopkins Invitational Aug. 31 and the individual results for Fruitvale were as follows: Reyli Rubio, 17th place, 15:48.65; Brooklyn Brown, 40th place, 17:08.24; Madison Mae, 67th place, 23:00.33; and Ariana Smith, 71st place, 25.55.69. Junior high boys’ results for Fruitvale included Noel Baxter, 78th place, 18:41.30, and William Goforth, 120th place, 24:23.78.

Edgewood the only winner in county during Week 2
